JOAN PEDRERO SECURES TOP 10 FINISH ON THE HARLEY-DAVIDSON PAN AMERICA 1250 IN THE 2025 AFRICA ECO RACE
Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250 proves its mettle once again as the largest, near-stock bike in the rally
Oxford, UK (January 14, 2025) – Harley-Davidson is proud to celebrate Joan Pedrero’s extraordinary performance in the 2025 Africa Eco Race, where he achieved 8th place finish and secured first place in the 1000 cc+ category. Competing on the Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250™, a near-stock adventure touring motorcycle and one of the largest bikes in the rally, Pedrero’s success is a testament to the unmatched capability, durability, and versatility of the Pan America.
The Africa Eco Race is renowned as one of the toughest rally raids in the world, covering more than 5,900 kilometres of challenging terrain across Africa before culminating at the iconic Lac Rose in Dakar. Demonstrating remarkable consistency, Pedrero remained in the top-ten throughout the race showcasing his skill and the Pan America 1250’s ability to deliver a high performance day after day. Despite competing against significantly lighter and highly modified rally bikes, Pedrero and the Pan America 1250™ defied expectations, proving that the largest bike in the field could excel under some of the most demanding conditions.
This achievement builds on Harley-Davidson’s historic debut in the 2024 Africa Eco Race, where Pedrero also claimed the 1000 cc+ category title on the very same bike. The 2025 campaign solidifies the Pan America 1250™ as not just a competitor but a leader in the world of adventure motorcycles, redefining what’s possible for a stock adventure touring bike.
What makes this achievement even more remarkable is the Pan America 1250™’s near-stock specification. Competing for a second time with minimal modifications, including a minor radiator adjustment for enhanced cooling, the Pan America 1250™ showcased its factory-engineered performance. Powered by the Revolution® Max 1250 engine—a liquid-cooled 1250cc V-Twin—the bike demonstrated exceptional power, endurance, and reliability, handling extreme environments with the same setup available to riders worldwide.
“At Harley-Davidson, we pride ourselves on delivering motorcycles that are built for adventure, and the Pan America 1250™ is the ultimate expression of that spirit,” said Kolja Rebstock, Harley-Davidson Regional Vice President for Europe, Middle East, and Africa. “Once again, Joan Pedrero’s incredible result—achieved on a near-stock motorcycle and as one of the largest bikes in the race—is a groundbreaking moment that showcases the H-D Pan America’s capability and versatility in a class of its own.”
The Africa Eco Race’s rugged terrains, spanning rocky paths, expansive dunes, and punishing desert landscapes, presented relentless challenges to competitors. For Pedrero and the Pan America 1250™, it was an opportunity to demonstrate the bike’s durability, control, and superior handling under gruelling conditions, further cementing its place as a game-changer in adventure motorcycling.
